I visited the only independent residential adult education college left in England, and it’s genuinely inspiring to see the life-changing work happening here.

Adult education gives people a second chance - helping them retrain, gain qualifications, and move into secure employment. But funding is under real pressure, and colleges like this need proper support. Labour has been clear that skills are central to rebuilding our economy - through stronger apprenticeship pathways and a jobs guarantee, ensuring every young person has access to training, work or education.

But that ambition has to include adult learners too. Whether you’re starting out or starting again, oppor

tunity shouldn’t have an age limit. I’ll continue to champion the vital role this college plays in delivering exactly that.
