Empowering Careers through Skill Training in the Hospitality Industry

The hospitality industry offers a wide range of career opportunities, but entering or returning to this sector can be challenging without the right skills and confidence. At the Xcelerate Regional Skills & Community Training Hub located at Edgbaston Stadium, people receive hands-on training and support to build careers in hospitality. This initiative, run by Compass Group UK & Ireland in partnership with the charity Springboard, focuses on equipping individuals with practical skills that open doors to employment and personal growth.

I visited the Xcelerate Regional Skills & Community Training Hub at Edgbaston Stadium to see first-hand how it is helping people build careers in the hospitality industry.

Xcelerate, run by Compass Group UK & Ireland in partnership with the charity Springboard, provides training and support for people looking to enter or return to work. During my visit, I met with those taking part in a taster session designed to equip them with the skills and confidence needed to take the next step into employment.

It was also a pleasure to speak with the team behind the initiative, as well as partners and local organisations working together to create opportunities across the region. Programmes like this play a vital role in supporting people into work while strengthening our local economy - and I even had the chance to try my hand at the barista training!
